Cruella and her Puppy Costume

My 9-year-old daughter Madison is dressed as the evil, yet adorable, Cruella De Vil. Her 2-year-old little sister Ella is dressed as her cute little Dalmatian puppy. I first got the idea while trying to think of a themed costume, which is difficult with their age difference. When I came across this idea I knew it'd be relatively easy and cute.

Madison's costume was very easy. I got a yard of some Dalmatian fur and sewed a black lining to it in the shape of a shawl. I also sewed a simple black dress to wear underneath. Some accessories, like the fashion jewelry we had around the house, the gloves and wig were purchased. Total cost, about $25.

Ella's costume required a bit more sewing. Since I'm no expert seamstress, I took a pair of her pajamas and cut the Dalmatian fur to match. I sewed that and added elastic to the arm, foot, and neck openings. I covered another piece of elastic to make the headband and attached ears, little pieces of fur with black backing. Her tail was made with fur in the shape of a long tube, stuffed with cotton balls and pipe cleaners to give it shape. Total cost, about $15.

That's it! I had a lot of fun designing the costumes and got great compliments about them being unique and original, which is exactly what I was going for. Had a great time!
